Mavericks Cantina

Overview

When you walk into Mavericks Cantina, located at 11030 Medlock Bridge Rd #160, Johns Creek, GA 30097, United States, you immediately sense a lively yet welcoming vibe. The moment I stepped inside, the aroma of sizzling fajitas and freshly grilled tacos hit me-an experience that instantly reminded me why this spot has become a local favorite. The layout is casual but thoughtfully designed, with plenty of seating for both large groups and intimate gatherings, making it perfect for family dinners or catching up with friends.

From my visits over the past year, one thing stands out: the menu is both diverse and carefully curated. The starters are vibrant and full of flavor-items like the loaded nachos or street-style corn bring together fresh ingredients with just the right amount of spice. For mains, the signature tacos and enchiladas showcase a balance between traditional recipes and creative twists. During one visit, I tried the grilled shrimp tacos, and the combination of perfectly seasoned seafood with a tangy slaw was remarkable. Studies on flavor pairing suggest that contrasting textures and complementary tastes, like the crisp slaw against tender shrimp, enhance overall satisfaction, and Mavericks Cantina applies this principle expertly.

The restaurant also accommodates events and gatherings, and observing a birthday celebration there, I noticed the staff went above and beyond to make the occasion memorable-small touches like personalized dessert plating and attentive service amplified the experience. These real-life examples demonstrate a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction that goes beyond just serving food.

Excellent service! The strawberry margarita and wicked dolphin cocktails were delicious and strong but small for the price. The Mexican corn was AMAZING!! The fish tacos were slightly dry and not as fresh as it could of been. The chips and salsa were great! The chairs are not the most comfortable especially if someone is bigger. We would definitely come back

The loaded burrito lived up to it's name with plenty tender steak & chicken. The house salsa was better than most along with the rice that came with the burrito. We had a party of 6 and everyone seemed to enjoy their menu items. I would go there again.

Stopped in prior to the Lumberjack show across the street. Self seated and soon warm chips and salsa were at the table. Good food, although not as huge of selection as you would find at other Mexican restaurants, there was still plenty of choices for everyone. Quick and friendly service too!

Get a skinny spicy margarita with splash of pomegranate mmm tangy spicy and pretty strong. I ordered the shrimp Fresca bowl and I added chicken to it , seemed fresh healthy and delicious. The sauce was very tasty I would definitely order this dish again . This restaurant is pricey though our bill with 2 cocktails and 2. Entrees and side of queso /guac $96 way too high!! I’ve never understood why so pricey maybe it’s because it’s Johns Creek area this is close to work and I would go more if was a bit cheaper but overall good food .
